2004 Weblog Awards: A Call For Volunteers

November 14, 2004

A Call For Volunteers

Last year the Weblog Awards were pretty much a one man show. I did get some much needed help from The King of Fools and Cheyenne (aka Gnome-Girl), but I found myself heavily burdened by administrative work and monitoring the polls.

This year I'm looking for a few folks to help in process of winnowing the list of nominees to finalists. Last year there were 21 categories, and this year there will be a similar (or higher) number. My current thoughts are that each category should have 10 finalists as opposed to the 20 per category we had last year. The folks who volunteer will help in narrowing down the lists in each category, and will likely have to do a little investigative work on the nominees.

You may be asked to narrow a category down to 10 finalists or to participate in that activity as a group. You might be asked to watch the polls in one of the categories for suspicious activity. You will get a spot in the blogroll for helping, and you'll still be eligible to receive for awards.

I'll help, if you still need it.

Oh, also on condition that I win at least four categories, one of them being replacing Misha as most annoying right wing blogger. ;-)

You have another volunteer here.
As a sample of my critical tendencies ;-) I would like to know why there is a Best UK Blog AND a Best European blog! Did the UK abandoned the EU already?
