Take a look at last years categories and the 2003 categories. Are we missing any? Should we drop any exiting categories?
Make you case. No guarantee that new categories will be added, but I am in the mood to consider additions and deletions.
How about Best Blog Focused Radio Show.:)
It seems that there is a vast number of blogs that are personal or family (mine) in nature which bounce all around with regard to issues but which can occasionally be fun little diamonds in the rough and possibly worthy of a category to themselves.
It would be nice to have categories for blogs by state, or at least by region. Also, a category for PhotoBlogs would be nice. I can't remember if there's already one, so if there is, just ignore this. :)
Looking forward to this year's awards.
Best Moderate Blog
Best Scandinavian Blog
Election blog that relevant this year?
Category for best "Rove you magnificent bastard" triumph.
With Video Blogging exploding as it is, Best Vlog would be a good category to add.
-Best Embedded Reporter
-Best Active Duty Milblogger
-Best Non-Active Duty Milblogger
Deletions:
While, my blog has had a lot of fun covering Boise, Idaho's City Council election given only two Governor's races and municipal elections, its time for that to go, probably.
Also, probably the word "latino" should be dropped from the International blog, because there are lots of American latinos.
Additions:
Best Religious Blog:
So many stores have been done on God Blogs and there's a proliferation of them on the Internet. There has to be a category for these blogs without doubt.
I would concur in part with the prior posters idea for a third category for political blogs. I might suggest an "Independent Blog" award though because there's also libertarians who are fearly significant presence on line and you can't very well have something for every ideology.
Same thing with Scandavians, might have an "Ethnic Blog" and then Jews, Scots, Blacks blogs that have that focus can compete rather than just one ethnicity.
The only other thing I might throw in is a "Best Post of the Year" award where the top 20 posts suggested by readers are sent to your jury to decide the winner.
How about a category for best original blog design? Throw a bone to us web designers. :)
How about best ex-pat blog? There are certainly many of us out there, and we represent all sorts of viewpoints.
How about the Best Podcast? IMAO, QandO, ShellyTheRepublican, and of course, the Rip & Read Blogger Podcast!
Best LGBT Political Blog... not just LGBT blog.
Not that I'm hinting or anything.... ;-)
Addendum to last comment... two suggested categories...

I like a lot of Aaron's suggestions!
How about "Most Overrated Blog"...
Or "Dumbest Commenters"?
Or "Blogger Most in Need of Psychiatric Help?" (I can think of QUITE a few who ought to be in this category.)
Really, there needs to be at least one nasty, snarky category. ;-) Isn't that what most bloggers do most of the time anyway?
Oh, here's one: "Biggest Shameless Ripoff of Another Blogger's Schtick"
And for God's sake, if you don't do "Most Annoying Emailer For Linkage," I'm girlcotting the awards. Or something.
your existing categories are ok.
one suggestion: use the categories from the truth laid bear ("mortal humans" etc) - everybody knows those...
Best Blogger Under 25.
New Category: Podcasts!!!
I would like to point out that the "Best new blog" category is biased against blogs launched late in 2004. I launched my blog in Dec. 2004, so it couldn't have competed for a "best new blog" last year, and yet it also doesn't qualify this year.
The Best New Blog category should be open to all blogs launched since the previous awards nominations were announced, not since the start of 2005.
Several catbloggers have suggested to me that there be a Catblogger or Petblogger category.
I will not participate, but I will be more than glad to help judge.
